On south-east coast just below the Arctic circle, a small and pretty fishing village on a peninsula in Sermilik Fjord.
In Kalaallisut it means "Beautiful glacier fjord” and includes the vast Knud Rasmussen Glacier and the Kârale Glacier. Due west from Iceland, it can be a popular first landing.
Interesting facts about Sermiligaaq
Knud Rasmussen was a Greenlandic–Danish polar explorer and anthropologist that is fondly known as the "father of Eskimology". He was the first European to cross the Northwest Passage by dog sled.
