A polar cruise on board the Island Sky
9 Reviews
Welcome aboard the Island Sky! With spacious, well-appointed suites, stylish common areas, an ice-strengthened hull, and redundant core technology, the Island Sky represents the height of comfort and style. In 2017, it was upgraded to add tinted sliding glass doors to all cabins on Promenade Deck 4.
We’re thrilled to be bringing Island Sky back to Antarctica beginning in December of 2022.
The Island Sky is a fantastic platform for exploring Antarctica in comfort and style. It exudes old-world charm and is one of the few ships in her class that boasts 3 decks of suites with sliding glass doors, offering you immediate access to Antarctica from the privacy of your suite. As an added bonus, we’ve upgraded the beverage package onboard and all alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will be included for the entirety of the voyage.

Island Sky's take on sustainable traveling
Foremost among our sustainability goals are actively reducing the impact and emission of our vessels, investing in new technology, and continuously improving our existing resources. We have also installed a new low-emission engine in our veteran vessel, Ortelius. This engine complies with all the latest environmental legislation. Another of our important commitments to sustainability is our use of low-sulfur marine gas oil (LSMGO), which has a sulfur content of less than 0.1 percent.\n\nWe limit onboard waste production by recycling as often as we can as well as banning single-use plastics. This ship does not use straws, plastic cups, or any individually wrapped butter, yogurt, and jam. This vessel has a water treatment system and desalination system that uses reverse osmosis, allowing us to eliminate the use of plastic water bottles on board. Rather, guests receive a reusable water bottle they can refill on the vessel. Bathrooms are equipped with biodegradable shampoo and soap in recycled packing, further limiting our use of plastics.

Cabin was very comfortable. The F&B team was super! The food was just too good!! We had a difficult time adjusting when we came home. We would definitely love to live on the Island Sky again and again. (Copied from Swoop Antarctica)

Old, but fancy. Limited but appropriate. The food was top-notch. Better than a cruise line (copied from Swoop Antarctica)

Awesome, Incredible, Amazing, Wonderful, Perfect, Great Response, I would do it all again! Tough to give only one example, camping, polar plunge, cruising on Zodiac's, landings, lectures, food, cabins, talent show Wildlife, great. Everyone was amazing passengers, great expedition team leader and members, and crew It was all a surprise. Whatever I thought I knew, what I thought I expected everything surprised me. Especially the icebergs, colors, wildlife, history Can't limit to one answer hitting the water in the polar plunge, watching the leopard seal catch penguins and being only feet from all of it, the whales, the penguins were so amazing.
