Mid-Sized Ships Antarctica & Arctic Cruises
Our selection of the best polar expeditions on board mid-sized ships
Why choose a midsize ship for your cruise to Antarctica or the Arctic?
Our midsize ships accommodate 121 to 150 guests. They combine the best of the other two size groups. With a midsize ship, you still get the personal experience of a small ship, but there are usually more common areas to enjoy. Following the IAATO regulations, midsize vessels cannot offer a landing excursion to all of their guests at once. Guests are usually divided into groups and go ashore in groups of 30 to 48 at a time. This means you don’t necessarily have to wait on the ship. You can either go ashore or enjoy a zodiac cruise.

Sustainable Tourism in the Polar Regions

With over 30 dedicated expedition cruise vessels regularly sailing their waters, the polar regions have become an increasingly popular destination for Arctic and Antarctic exploration cruise ships. However, these pristine and far-flung regions are far from being tourist hotspots, and expedition vessel owners and operators are united in keeping the places they visit unspoiled. We only recommend Arctic and Antarctic cruise operators who are members of IAATO - the International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators. Their code of conduct and practices ensure that every care is taken to ensure the pristine landscapes you will encounter remain that way.
