Ocean Albatros's take on sustainable traveling
One of our top priorities for sustainability is actively reducing the impact and emissions of our ships, investing in new technology, and continuously improving our current resources. We have recently installed a new low-emission engine on our long-standing ship, Ortelius, which meets all the latest environmental regulations. Another important aspect of our commitment to sustainability is our use of low-sulfur marine gas oil (LSMGO), which has a sulfur content of less than 0.1 percent. We also strive to limit waste production on board by recycling whenever possible and prohibiting the use of single-use plastics. Our ship does not provide straws, plastic cups, or individually wrapped butter, yogurt, and jam. Instead, we have a water treatment and desalination system that uses reverse osmosis, eliminating the need for plastic water bottles on board. Guests are given a reusable water bottle that they can refill during their voyage. Our bathrooms are stocked with biodegradable shampoo and soap in recycled packaging, further reducing our use of plastics.
